Job summary

Anduril Industries in Costa Mesa, CA, is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer for Manufacturing Automation to lead the mechanical design of automated manufacturing equipment from concept through commissioning.

You will work with electrical, controls, and robotics engineers to define system requirements, perform simulations, develop fixtures and EOAT, and mentor junior engineers as programs scale nationwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar field.
• 12+ years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on automation, machinery, or robotics.
• Strong 3D CAD capability in NX.
• Proficient 2D CAD in AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of automation components: actuators, servos, gears, pneumatics.
• Experience with fabrication: machining, welding, sheet metal, additive manufacturing.
• FEA, motion studies, and system-level simulations to de-risk designs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of automated manufacturing equipment from concept through commissioning and handover.
• Develop system-level designs, simulations, and engineering studies to define equipment requirements.
• Perform simulations for robotic systems and equipment, including reach studies and architecture development.
• Design and integrate fixtures, tooling, and EOAT for automation applications.
• Create 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs; select mechanical components.
• Oversee prototype fabrication, testing, and issue resolution during production rollout.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls, and robotics engineers for seamless integration.
• Set mechanical design standards and mentor engineers across programs.
