Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Staff Automation Engineer for Manufacturing Automation to lead end-to-end automation projects across production lines. You will design, implement, and commission automated systems, including robot/cobot cells, material handling, and inspection, while coordinating with product design and manufacturing teams to set the correct automation scope.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or CS field.
12+ years designing and commissioning automated production equipment.
Proficient CAD modeling in NX or AutoCAD.
Proficient in robot/cobot selection and integration, including path planning and EOAT design.
Experience with material movement systems (conveyors, robots, AGV/AMR).
Experience integrating PLCs, HMIs, pushbuttons, safety devices.
Track record owning multiple complex automation programs end-to-end.
Broad depth across controls, robotics, machine vision, and safety systems.
Experience defining automation standards and mentoring engineers.
U.S. person due to access to export controlled information.

Responsibilities

Own automation projects from cradle to grave through all phases.
Design and commission automated manufacturing systems to improve throughput and quality.
Collaborate with design and manufacturing to scope automation levels.
Oversee automation cells including robots, material handling, and inspection systems.
Integrate control systems across cells: PLCs, HMIs, vision, safety systems.
Plan layout of production lines with IE and Facilities teams.
Generate 2D/3D CAD files for lines and components.
Define standards, solicit vendors, and conduct safety buyoffs.
Lead cross-functional teams and mentor engineers across programs.
Define the automation technology roadmap for multiple factories.
