Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Senior Product Design Engineer to design and develop precision mechanical products and custom assemblies from concept to production release.

The role blends hands-on design, analysis, prototyping, and close collaboration with customers and manufacturing teams to deliver reliable solutions. You will translate requirements into specifications, create CAD models and documentation, perform tolerance analyses, and ensure manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Progressive experience designing mechanical products through production release.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD, detailed drawings, GD&T, and engineering change control.
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing methods, and interfaces.
• Ability to independently manage technical work and collaborate across functions.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer requirements into product specifications and design concepts.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, bills of materials, and design documentation.
• Perform engineering calculations, material selection, tolerance analysis, and design risk assessments.
• Design components and assemblies with temperature, pressure, sealing, interfaces, and manufacturability as applicable.
• Develop prototype and validation plans, evaluate test results, and refine designs to meet performance requirements.
• Lead or contribute to design reviews and resolve technical issues with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers.
• Support new product introduction, engineering changes, and troubleshooting of production or field performance concerns.
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers and improve design practices and reusable engineering knowledge.
