Job summary

RINA seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Plant Engineering team in Houston, TX, Sunrise, FL, or Chicago/Lisle, IL. You will lead complex design activities for industrial plants and energy systems, developing specifications, datasheets, calculations and drawings, ensuring compliance with international codes and client requirements.

With 10+ years in mechanical design, you will mentor junior engineers, coordinate interfaces with process, piping, electrical and civil disciplines,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's and Master's degrees in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical design for industrial plants or energy systems.
• Strong knowledge of ASME VIII, EN 13445, API, ISO and NFPA standards.
• Experience leading complex design packages and coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces.
• Proficiency with Mathcad, ANSYS, SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and communicate across international teams.

Responsibilities

• Leads complex mechanical design activities and coordinates specifications, datasheets, requisitions, drawings and BOMs.
• Reviews project requirements and client specs to establish reliable design inputs.
• Approves routine deliverables and supports Principal Engineer on critical documents.
• Plans activities, monitors progress and identifies technical or schedule risks.
• Performs calculations for pressure vessels, mechanical strength, thermal expansion and rotating equipment.
• Conducts peer reviews and ensures compliance with codes and standards (ASME, EN, API, ISO, NFPA).
• Mentors junior engineers and coordinates interfaces with process, piping, electrical, instrumentation and civil teams.
• Participates in client meetings, vendor evaluations, inspections and site surveys.
