Job summary

RINA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for its Houston, TX office (also Sunrise, FL or Chicago/Lisle, IL). You will lead mechanical design from concept to detailed drawings, coordinate with process, piping, electrical, and civil teams, and ensure compliance with ASME, EN, API, and NFPA standards.

You will develop and verify documentation, perform calculations, and support vendor coordination and site assessments. A strong emphasis on quality, cost, and schedule is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Studies.
• Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical design for industrial plants, energy systems, or similar environments.
• Proficiency with design codes (ASME VIII, EN 13445, API, NFPA, etc.).
• Experience using engineering calculation and design software (PV Elite, COMPASS, HTRI, Mathcad, ANSYS, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Strong writing and documentation skills; good command of English.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain mechanical design specifications and data sheets.
• Perform design calculations (pressure vessel sizing, mechanical strength, thermal expansion).
• Prepare technical documentation and vendor inquiries; support vendor selection.
• Coordinate across disciplines to ensure integration of mechanical systems.
• Ensure compliance with quality, HSE, and regulatory requirements across project phases.
