Job summary

RINA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Plant Engineering division in Houston, TX, Sunrise, FL, or Chicago/Lisle, IL. You will develop high-quality mechanical designs, perform calculations, and ensure compliance with ASME, EN, API, NFPA codes across project phases from concept to detailed design.

The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, cost and schedule awareness, and travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's and/or Master's in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years' design experience.
• Proficiency in PV Elite, COMPASS, HTRI, Mathcad, ANSYS, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of ASME VIII, EN 13445, API, NFPA codes.
• Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
• Ability to travel up to 25% and work in a multidisciplinary, international team.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems and equipment per project requirements.
• Perform design verifications, calculations, and peer reviews to ensure compliance with codes (ASME, EN, API).
• Prepare technical documentation, data sheets, and requisitions; support vendor bid evaluations.
• Coordinate with process, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and civil teams for integration.
• Ensure deliverables meet quality, cost, and schedule targets.
