Job summary

RTX in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical hardware design for defense systems, covering development to production support. You will model components, perform design changes, and manage releases within a collaborative team.

The role requires strong CAD experience (CREO), tolerance analysis, and the ability to work across cross-functional teams in a mission-focused environment. On-site at US facilities with relocation support available.

Qualifications

Typically requires a STEM degree and 5+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years.
Experience with technical documentation for hardware or tooling products.
Experience in mechanical design, development, manufacturing or tooling processes.
Experience creating and updating engineering drawings in a CAD tool.

Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical hardware for defense systems across product lifecycle.
Perform tolerance analyses for form, fit, and function as intended by design.
Lead small teams in a fast-paced environment with ruggedized structures and electronics packaging.
Support product integration across domestic and international factories and suppliers.
