Job summary

Mapt in California is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to own the design and development of battery module components from concept through production, including cell retention, thermal management, safety systems, housing integration, and electromechanical interfaces.

You'll partner with electrical, thermal, simulation, and software teams to optimize the complete battery pack and vehicle package, drive sound design decisions, and deliver robust solutions with high ownership in a

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in mechanical engineering and deep depth in battery/powertrain design.
• 5+ years designing automotive or motorcycle battery systems with robust packaging.
• Hands-on experience with HV safety and high-voltage system constraints.

Responsibilities

• Own the design for a new battery module architecture and its interfaces.
• Develop cell retention, thermal management, safety systems, and housing integration.
• Collaborate with electrical, thermal, simulation, and software teams to optimize the pack.
• Drive design decisions, feasibility reviews, and release to production.
• Contribute to venting strategy and propagation protection while controlling costs.
• Ensure designs meet manufacturing and reliability targets across programs.
