Job summary

Pratt & Whitney, a RTX company, seeks a goal-oriented mechanical design engineer to join the GTF HPC CIPT. You will design across all phases, from preliminary to service, supporting HPC modules and rotor assemblies, while ensuring quality and cost objectives.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, enhance repairability, and lead design reviews, with emphasis on staying aligned to standards and project milestones.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering with 8+ years of Mechanical Design experience OR Advanced degree with 5+ years of experience
• Experience with hardware, reading blueprints, and manufacturing methods
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
• MS degree preferred in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with IBRs or rotors
• Experience with engineering change processes (Class I, Class II, Must Conform, etc)
• Proficiency in FEA, and/or classical methods of analysis
• Proficiency in Teamcenter, NX

Responsibilities

• Design support across all phases of the design cycle, preliminary through detailed design, validation, manufacturing and service
• Support existing installed fleets through enhanced component commonality and optimization
• Improve repairability/maintainability for customers and MRO facilities and assist in testing field issues
• Design and implement standard work across the organization to optimize efficiency and quality
• Design and review layouts of components and perform major cost studies to meet objectives and budgets
• Resolve design problems of complex scope and ensure drawings meet standards and accuracy
• Coordinate with other engineering personnel to ensure project completion
• Provide technical leadership on IPTs and train less experienced engineers when needed
