Hamar Laser is seeking an onsite Senior Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and testing new laser alignment products and training production technicians on their assembly. We desire a candidate with a proactive attitude and hands-on optical and mechanical engineering experience to ensure our designs are intuitive and easy to build.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

• Have 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, especially in designing and testing new products; optics experience is a plus.
• Hold a degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university; a master's degree is a plus.
• Excellent mechanical design skills using SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Experience in designing, fabricating, building prototypes, testing, and implementing new products.
• Familiar with engineering concepts, practices, procedures, and generating fabrication drawings.
• Ability to QC parts with high precision.
• Experience interfacing with electronic engineers and integrating PCBs; understanding electronic concepts is a plus.
• Experience with laser alignment or calibration systems is advantageous.
• Persistent, proactive personality willing to solve problems and complete tasks.
• Good knowledge of machining centers, lathes, grinders, and similar machinery is beneficial.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, confidence, and initiative.

This position is based in Danbury, CT, and is not remote.
