Our products and team focus on making machinery calibration easier by providing intuitive, easy-to-use systems that set industry standards for accuracy, speed, and broad applicability, while offering high support and service.

Hamar Laser is seeking an onsite Senior Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and testing new laser alignment products, as well as training production technicians on their assembly. We seek a candidate with a proactive attitude, hands-on optical and mechanical engineering experience, and a focus on intuitive, easy-to-build product designs.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

1. 10+ years in mechanical engineering, especially in designing and testing new products; experience with optics is a plus.
2. Degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university; a master's degree is a plus.
3. Excellent mechanical design skills using SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
4. Experience in designing, fabricating, prototyping, testing, and implementing new products.
5. Familiarity with engineering concepts, practices, procedures, and drawing generation for fabrication.
6. Ability to QC parts to high accuracy standards.
7. Experience interfacing with electronic engineers and integrating PCBs, with a good understanding of electronic concepts.
8. Experience with laser alignment or calibration systems is a plus.
9. Persistent, can-do personality, willing to solve problems and complete tasks.
10. Knowledge of machining centers, lathes, grinders, and similar machinery is a plus.
11. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows.
12. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, confident, and self-motivated.

This position is based in Danbury, CT. It is not remote.
