Job summary

Lowes Foods is seeking a Bench Department Manager for the meat department to lead operations across multiple store locations within a 30-mile radius of the candidate's home, including Apex, Clayton, Garner, and Holly Springs. The role emphasizes guest-focused service, merchandising excellence, and staff development.

Responsibilities include budgeting, scheduling, compliance, and ongoing performance reviews, with opportunities to advance to a full Department Manager role as openings arise.

Qualifications

• High school education and 3-4 years of progressive supermarket experience.
• Must be 18 years old.
• Ability to lift 50lbs occasionally and 25lbs constantly.
• Ability to supervise people, including training and development.
• Knowledge of meat operations.
• Effective communication, guest service, and selling skills.
• Ability to bend, kneel, stand, push/pull stock carts for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Ensures guests receive polite, friendly service from the meat department.
• Accountable for achieving budgeted financial results.
• Prepare product for sale according to Lowes Foods standards.
• Implements and maintains an in-store selling culture and merchandising programs.
• Responsible for the scheduling of the department.
• Ensures the department is run in compliance with company standards (ALI audits).
• Supervises departmental staff and conducts performance reviews.
• Teaching and training departmental staff and developing high-potential employees.
• Ensures departmental sanitation and safe food handling practices.
• Maintains coolers and freezers to standard.
• Executes weekly pricing audits and pull lists and monthly ALI self-audits.
• Takes ownership of the entire meat department and coordinates with DSD Receiver and scan coordinator.
• Creates an enthusiastic, guest-focused selling environment.
• Ensures compliance with all laws and company policies.
• Performs tasks assigned by store manager.
