Job summary

Lowes Foods, LLC is seeking a Bench Department Manager to oversee the meat department and lead sales growth within the store. After training, incumbents are expected to fill a Department Manager role within 30 miles of home.

The role emphasizes guest service, merchandising execution, and staff development while maintaining safety and compliance across the department. This position requires leadership and in-depth knowledge of meat operations.

Qualifications

• High school education and 3-4 years of progressive supermarket experience.
• Must be 18 years old.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs constantly.
• Ability to read and understand information and direction.
• Knowledge of meat operations.
• Ability to supervise people, including training and development.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements on the job.
• Effective communication, guest service, and selling skills.
• Ability to bend, kneel, stand, push/pull stock carts for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Ensure guests receive polite, friendly service from the meat department.
• Achieve budgeted financial results.
• Prepare meat products to standards.
• Execute merchandising programs and manage pricing and stock levels.
• Schedule the department.
• Maintain compliance with standards and ALI audits.
• Develop staff performance and provide feedback.
• Develop a talent bench and training plans for staff.
• Ensure sanitation and safe food handling practices.
• Maintain coolers and freezers to standard.
• Execute weekly pricing audits, pull lists, and ALI self-audits.
• Own the meat department including seafood and coordinate with other units.
• Foster an enthusiastic, guest-focused selling culture.
• Ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
• Maintain a safe department for guests and hosts.
• Perform PA announcements.
• Perform other tasks assigned by store manager.
