Job summary

RTX is seeking a Materials Engineering Project Manager for the Phoenix area to lead scope, schedules, and budgets on medium to large projects ($500K+). You will deliver on-cost, on-schedule, and on-technical execution while mentoring early-career professionals and coordinating across functional teams.

The role requires a STEM degree with 8+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years, and proficiency in MS Project, CP/EV metrics, and risk management. PM certifications are preferred.

• Proficient in MS Project, including resource loading, critical path analysis, and earned value management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage Materials Engineering project scope and schedules from cradle to first delivery
• Lead multiple medium to large projects ($500K+) delivering on-cost, on-schedule and on-technical execution
• Manage project risks, assumptions and dependencies
• Prepare progress reports and key project performance metrics including CPI/SPI/EAC
• Support vendor/supplier/contractor oversight, ensuring alignment with project objectives
• Provide regular status updates on projects to leadership, project sponsors, customers, and other stakeholders
• Facilitate communication between functional groups, stakeholders and customers
• Align project schedules with the Work Breakdown Structure to ensure proper planning, monitoring and control
• Identify, communicate, and resolve project issues in collaboration with project stakeholders
• Ensure scope changes are identified, documented, and communicated to the program manager for appropriate action
• Support continuous improvement in maturing standards, procedures, and tools for effective project management practices
• Mentor early-career professionals by providing guidance, support, and knowledge sharing to enhance team capabilities
