Job summary

Adient plc in Normal, IL seeks a Materials Manager to lead material planning, inventory control, receiving, shipping, and freight optimization, ensuring uninterrupted production and KPI performance.

Responsibilities include managing MRP/BOM data, supplier performance, transportation and customer service, and safety/compliance. Leadership of supervisors and continuous improvement initiatives are required. Automotive manufacturing experience and IATF familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; 5+ years in materials management, supply chain, logistics, or manufacturing operations.
• Leadership experience managing supervisors and hourly employees.
• Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, inventory management, production planning, and logistics operations.
• Automotive manufacturing experience and familiarity with IATF 16949 preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead materials planning & inventory management, ensuring optimal BOM accuracy and production support.
• Oversee supplier performance, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage inbound/outbound transportation, freight cost recovery, and customer service planning.
• Establish procedures for receiving, shipping, storage, and material handling; ensure safety and compliance.
• Lead, coach and develop Materials Floor Supervisors and staff; drive departmental KPIs and cost reductions.
