Job summary

State of Washington Dept. of Transportation seeks a Transportation Technical Engineer to lead the Materials and Fabrication Inspection Office.

You will supervise inspectors, oversee fabrication inspection, sample and test materials, and ensure compliance with standards across statewide projects. Requirements include expertise in materials testing, QA practices, and the ability to interpret complex drawings and specs.

Qualifications

• Interprets technical manuals, drawings and specs.
• Practices materials testing, QA and inspection methods.
• Reviews complex construction plans for compliance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise inspectors at HQ Tumwater and Southwest Region.
• Sample, test, and inspect fabricated products for quality.
• Review nondestructive test results for acceptability.
• Identify nonconforming materials early in fabrication.
• Oversee and document inspection processes and approvals.
