Job summary

The State of Michigan’s Department of Transportation seeks a Transportation Engineer Licensed Specialist to serve as the Fabrication Technical Engineer in the Bureau of Bridges and Structures. You will review fabrication and contract documents to ensure compliance with statewide and national standards and help develop MDOT fabrication provisions for projects.

This role requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, three to four years of relevant professional experience depending on the grade, and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering (required).
Three years of professional engineering experience in transportation or related fields for Transportation Engineer 12.
Four years of experience equivalent to Transportation Engineer, with two years at P11 or one year at Transportation Engineer 12 or Licensed 12 for Lic Specialist 13.

Responsibilities

Review fabricator/manufacturer technical documents and contract specs for compliance with statewide and national standards.
Assist in developing fabrication-related special provisions for MDOT projects.
Troubleshoot fabrication issues related to materials, processes, or design.
Perform fabrication facility visits and project site reviews with valid driver's license.
