Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation seeks an experienced engineer to manage and complete engineering activities for construction and maintenance projects within the Materials Division. The role develops engineering programs to meet project design needs and provides technical guidance to field staff for resolution of issues during construction.

Qualifications

Experience applying materials principles and practices related to highway design, construction, and maintenance.
Experience in engineering principles and practices relating to design.
Skill in the use of computers and software applications.

Responsibilities

Analyze and interpret engineering data and information; prepare clear reports and recommendations.
Communicate with VDOT staff, local governments, consultants and the public.
Manage and coordinate engineering program activities to meet deliverables on time and within scope.
Review design plans and contract documents for accuracy and completeness; provide technical guidance to field staff.
Support project development meetings and provide recommendations on technical issues arising during construction.
Assist in special investigations and develop remedial recommendations in written reports.
