Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) seeks an Electrical and Cement Testing Engineer to perform complex laboratory testing of cementitious materials, electrical materials, and traffic control equipment in a Tumwater, WA lab environment.

You will support statewide construction projects, maintain lab procedures, and uphold safety and quality standards while applying engineering knowledge to ensure infrastructure reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform acceptance, verification, confirmation, and forensic testing of cementitious materials and electrical materials.
  • Safely prepare, handle, test, organize, and dispose of laboratory samples and materials.
  • Test traffic controllers, signal cabinets, and electrical equipment using specialized laboratory equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical materials and conduct diagnostic testing with computer software.
  • Safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move laboratory inventory.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment; coordinate with vendors for calibration/repairs.
  • Communicate findings with peers, support offices, consultants, and the public in written and verbal form.
