Job summary

BD is seeking a Staff Engineer for New Product Development in Franklin Lakes, NJ. Hybrid work arrangement (4 days in office). You will define science and material platforms for next‑generation TPEs used in infusion, drug delivery, and vascular access devices.

You will lead research, design experiments, and build models translating polymer science to scalable product outcomes, driving design decisions across R&D, operations, and regulatory teams.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in polymer research, formulation development, material characterization, or product‑focused materials science.
• Proven experience designing experiments and analyzing complex datasets to build structure‑property‑performance relationships.
• Strong scientific writing, technical communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead technically challenging research programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of next‑generation TPE formulations and structural systems for medical‑device applications.
• Design and execute research strategies to understand how polymer composition, morphology, processing, sterilization, and aging affect device performance.
• Develop robust characterization methods, predictive models, and data‑driven design rules.
• Translate customer, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory inputs into material design inputs, specs, and verification strategies.
• Collaborate with suppliers, universities, external labs, and internal experts to advance platform strategy.
