Job summary

RTX is seeking a Sr. Materials Engineer (Global Chemical Substances) to support Global Chemical Substance Operations in Tucson, AZ. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with REACH, RoHS, TSCA, and other global directives throughout product lifecycles.

The ideal candidate will assess material risks, obsolescence, and substitutions, coordinate with design and supply chain teams, and maintain documentation and data systems for regulatory reporting and material declarations.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience with minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with minimum 3 years experience.
• Experience in global chemical regulations (REACH, RoHS, TSCA) and similar standards.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate materials, processes, and components for compliance with global regulations (REACH, RoHS, TSCA).
• Conduct material-level compliance assessments during hardware design reviews and production activities.
• Verify and document material compliance in established procedures.
• Support standardization, digital capabilities, and reporting related to chemical substances.
• Interface with design, manufacturing, supply chain, and suppliers to collect material data.
• Recommend compliant substitutes or alternative materials in coordination with engineers and SMEs.
• Develop and maintain tools, databases, and reporting methods for chemical substance tracking.
