Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ seeks a Sr. Materials Engineer to support Global Chemical Substance Operations within the Design and Development team.

The role focuses on ensuring compliance with REACH, RoHS, TSCA and other global regulations across the product lifecycle, evaluating materials and processes, and coordinating with design, manufacturing, and suppliers. You will perform material-level compliance assessments, maintain documentation, and develop tools for tracking chemical substances.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent; 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in global chemical regulations (REACH, RoHS, TSCA) and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate materials and processes for compliance with REACH, RoHS, TSCA.
• Perform material-level compliance assessments during design reviews.
• Verify material compliance and maintain detailed documentation.
• Support improvements and digital capabilities for chemical substances.
• Prepare and deliver compliance reports and regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, supply chain, and suppliers.
• Identify compliant substitutes or alternatives for materials.
• Develop and maintain tools and databases for chemical tracking.
• Assess risks related to obsolescence and restricted substances.
• Review BOMs against current global chemical substance requirements.
• Maintain compliance for international and European regulations.
• Engage SMEs to support substitution to alternative chemistries.
