Job summary

Avalere Health is seeking an Associate Principal‑level candidate to join our Market Access practice in Washington, D.C. You will drive pricing, contracting, and government reporting strategies for life sciences clients, while leading cross‑functional teams to deliver results.

You will mentor staff, develop business, and contribute to thought leadership and client advisory services. This role requires extensive domain expertise and strong leadership in a dynamic, flexible work environment.

Qualifications

• Advanced or undergraduate degree in health policy, public policy, healthcare management, public health, public administration, economics, health economics, business administration, accounting, law, or a relevant discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience in consulting firms, payers/PBMs, diagnostics and/or pharmaceutical manufacturers, HHS, CMS, 340B providers, or the larger healthcare industry.
• 3+ years in access, formulary, and coverage strategy.
• 2 years of project team leadership experience; 5 years of management/supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and secure business within the life science space with a focus on strategic pricing and contracting, government pricing, and government reporting (CMS, Medicare, Medicaid).
• Manage a portfolio of clients to ensure all Avalere knowledge and expertise are available, meeting a $500K annual sales target.
• Conceptualize project scopes, assemble cross‑functional teams, and oversee them from initiation to delivery.
• Serve as a subject‑matter expert on government pricing, including ASP, AMP, Best Price calculations, 340B, Prime Vendor Program, WAC, ceiling price, and URA.
• Create strategic and tactical recommendations for optimal market access, guiding product launch price, value‑based pricing, and GTN forecasting.
• Solve complex client issues promptly with minimal oversight, managing resources efficiently.
• Generate public recognition for Avalere’s pricing capabilities through thought leadership or public speaking.
• Mentor, supervise, and train staff members within the Market Access practice and across the firm.
