Job summary

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. is seeking a litigation attorney to defend the company in state and federal court, arbitrations, and small claims matters.

The role covers all facets of litigation from inception through trial, with a focus on reducing outside counsel reliance and controlling costs. The successful candidate will handle personal injury cases, draft pleadings, take and defend depositions, and advise on litigation strategy.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-5 years experience in major law firm or legal department handling all aspects of litigation.
  • Must have a background and working knowledge of General U.S. Maritime Law, including the Jones Act.
  • Experience in litigating passenger and crewmember claims.

Responsibilities

  • Litigate mostly personal injury cases and defend a legal case from inception through trial/final hearing, including filing pleadings.
  • Conduct and defend depositions of plaintiffs, witnesses, medical providers, and experts.
  • Provide periodic updates to P&I clubs regarding case status and litigation strategy.
  • Routinely decide on management of litigation files, including who to depose and which motions to file.
  • Conduct mediations to resolve cases and reduce liabilities, and perform legal research as needed.
