Job summary

American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is seeking a Surveyor II or above to join our field operations. You will inspect vessels and marine structures for compliance with ABS rules and statutory requirements, reporting findings under supervision and guidance of senior surveyors.

Responsibilities include risk assessment, client coordination, and maintaining thorough survey records while advancing broader field operations knowledge and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Education from a tertiary institution in engineering or physical science (minimum two years).
• Marine/nautical qualification with relevant seagoing experience as a certificated ship officer.
• Minimum requirements for Surveyor I, or equivalent experience in marine engineering/survey.
• Appropriate certifications or licenses in area of specialization may be required.

Responsibilities

• Apply ABS rules and related regulations to surveys and classifications.
• Perform routine surveys on classed vessels, platforms, or marine structures.
• Prepare accurate and timely inspection and survey reports.
• Communicate with clients to resolve issues within area of expertise.
• Maintain survey files in an orderly and up-to-date manner.
