Job summary

The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is seeking a Principal Surveyor to directly perform surveys, lead field teams, and ensure compliance with ABS Rules, Guides, and statutory requirements. You will train and mentor junior surveyors while supporting the In Charge in planning and delivering surveys at ports, stations, or field sites.

Ideal candidates have engineering or physical science background, ship systems knowledge, and at least three years as a Senior Surveyor with international exposure.

Qualifications

• Engineering or physical science degree required.
• Experience as a senior surveyor or equivalent.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Directly execute and support safe and efficient survey activities.
• Assist planning and coordination of survey phases and monitor service delivery quality.
• Mentor junior surveyors and promote ABS services to clients.
• Maintain relationships with port authorities and ensure safety culture.
