Job summary

American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is seeking a Surveyor II or higher in Seattle to conduct surveys on vessels and marine structures, ensuring compliance with ABS rules and relevant statutory requirements. You will prepare precise reports and maintain organized survey records under supervision.

Role requires reading engineering plans, communicating in English, and collaborating with clients to resolve issues. Pre-employment physicals may be required and the position is based on-site in Seattle.

Qualifications

• Engineering or physical science degree (minimum two-year program).
• Seagoing experience as a certificated ship officer or marine/nautical qualification.

Responsibilities

• As a professional specialist, apply ABS rules, guides, and related instructions.
• Perform routine surveys on classed vessels, platforms or marine structures.
• Prepare technically accurate survey reports in a timely manner.
• Engage with clients to resolve problems within area of expertise.
• Maintain survey files in an orderly, up-to-date manner.
