Job summary

American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is seeking an entry-level Surveyor I or similar, with a background in engineering or physical science. The role involves performing routine surveys on vessels and marine structures under supervision, and preparing timely inspection reports to ensure compliance with ABS rules and statutory requirements.

You will work with an experienced ABS Surveyor to develop skills in field operations, reporting, and client communication, while supporting safety and quality

Qualifications

• Qualifications from a tertiary institution in engineering or physical science (minimum two years).
• Marine/nautical certificates with seagoing experience may apply.
• Proficiency in English commensurate with certification and service requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine surveys on classed vessels, platforms, or marine structures.
• Prepare technically accurate reports of inspections and surveys.
• Engage with clients to resolve issues within expertise.
• Maintain survey files and documentation.
• Develop skills for administration of office procedures at assigned port.
• Grow understanding of field operations and ABS methods.
