Job summary

The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is seeking a Surveyor I or II to examine vessels and marine structures during construction and report on compliance with ABS Rules and applicable statutory requirements.

Under supervision, you will perform routine surveys, prepare precise reports, contact clients to resolve problems, and maintain survey files while developing broader field operations knowledge.

Qualifications

• Engineering or physical sciences degree from a tertiary institution.
• Marine or nautical certifications and seagoing experience.
• Minimum 3–5 years of surveying or engineering in the marine industry.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine surveys on classed vessels, platforms, or structures.
• Prepare accurate and timely inspection reports.
• Engage with clients to resolve issues.
• Maintain organized survey files.
• Apply ABS rules and statutory requirements in field work.
