Job summary

Elliott Bay Design Group LLC is seeking a Marine Engineer to design and integrate mechanical systems for maritime vessels, supporting 2D/3D design and ensuring regulatory compliance. The role emphasizes problem solving, analysis, and effective communication within a collaborative team.

Candidates should have a BS in Mechanical Engineering, EIT, and substantial shipboard or marine operations experience; PE is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree from ABET accredited curriculum.
• EIT certification; PE license preferred or on track to licensure.
• 8+ years of maritime mechanical design experience.
• Experience in shipyard and marine operations is required or preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office; Rhino and Pipe-Flo are favorable.
• Ability to perform onsite ship inspections and maintain professional memberships (SNAME/ASME/ASCE/IEEE).

Responsibilities

• System Design and Integration: design, evaluate, and integrate mechanical systems for marine vessels; support 2D and 3D vessel design processes.
• Systems Analysis and Troubleshooting: lead root-cause analysis; develop corrective actions and system optimizations.
• Project Execution and Oversight: prepare specifications, schematics, calculations, and progress updates; review contractor designs.
• Compliance and Quality Assurance: ensure regulatory, safety, and classification society requirements; prepare documentation for approvals; stay current with marine tech.
