Job summary

Elliott Bay Design Group LLC is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design and integrate electrical systems for marine vessels across the United States. You will collaborate with naval architects, mechanical engineers, and shipyards to specify power generation, propulsion, lighting, navigation, and communications, ensuring compliance with CFRs, IMO, ABS, DNV, IEC, SOLAS.

The ideal candidate has a BS in electrical or mechanical engineering, 8+ years in maritime design, and a PE license

Qualifications

• Eight+ years of maritime electrical design experience.
• Bachelor of Science in an ABET-accredited program.
• PE license preferred or actively pursuing licensure.
• Strong knowledge of marine construction, ship repair, safety standards, and regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, evaluate, and integrate electrical and electronic systems for marine vessels (power, propulsion, lighting, navigation, comms).
• Lead root-cause analysis and diagnostics for complex electrical issues.
• Collaborate with naval architects, mechanical engineers, shipyards, and vendors.
• Prepare specifications, schematics, reports, and progress updates; review contractor designs.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and classification requirements; support certifications and audits.
