Job summary

Elliott Bay Design Group is seeking a Naval Architect to help shape innovative vessels and practical engineering solutions for clients across the United States. You will work with a collaborative team on design, analysis, and integration of complex marine systems.

The role demands a BS in naval architecture or related field, 4+ years in maritime engineering, and ability to travel for onsite inspections. PE preferred; remote office environment with strong team collaboration and growth

Qualifications

  • Minimum four years of maritime industry experience providing naval architecture and marine engineering support.
  • Bachelor of Science degree from ABET-accredited curriculum.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of marine construction, ship repair, safety standards, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proficiency with GHS, Rhino, AutoCAD, MS Office; scripting (VBA, Python, Grasshopper) preferred.
  • Willingness to travel for onsite ship inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine vessel arrangements, hull forms, structural designs, stability analyses, and performance calculations.
  • Perform incline tests and deadweight surveys; produce stability documentation.
  • Ensure designs comply with CFRs, IMO, ABS, DNV, IEC, SOLAS; support refurbishment projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate engineering systems and concepts.
  • Prepare project documentation: specifications, schematics, reports, and progress updates.
  • Review detailed designs from shipyards and provide actionable comments.
