The ideal candidate will have a degree in electrical or mechanical engineering and a passion for solving complex design challenges. Experience in naval architecture, marine structural engineering, or another related discipline is a valuable plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Electrical System Design and Integration
  • Design, evaluate, and integrate electrical and electronic systems for marine vessels including power generation, propulsion, lighting, navigation, and communication systems.
  • Ensure all electrical designs comply with applicable marine regulations and standards (e.g., CFRs, IMO, ABS, DNV, IEC, SOLAS).
  • Serve projects for both new vessel design and existing vessel refurbishment and modifications.
Systems Analysis and Troubleshooting
  • Lead root-cause analysis and diagnostics for complex electrical system issues on new builds and existing vessels.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions, upgrades, and system optimizations.
Project Execution and Oversight
  • Collaborate with naval architects, mechanical engineers, shipbuilders, and third-party vendors.
  • Prepare project documentation including specifications, schematics, reports, and progress updates.
  • Review and provide comments on detail designs submitted by shipyard contractors.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
  • Conduct inspections and verifications to ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and classification society requirements.
  • Prepare documentation for approval, certification, and audits.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in marine electrification, hybrid propulsion, and energy efficiency.
  • Minimum eight years of experience within the maritime industry, providing electrical design support.
  • Bachelor of Science degree from ABET accredited curriculum.
  • Professional Engineer's License (PE) preferred or plans to become licensed.
  • Must have strong knowledge of marine construction, ship repair, safety standards, and regulatory frameworks, with proven capability in shipyard and marine operations.
