Job summary

RLI Corp. is seeking a Technical Claim Director-Marine Liability to lead complex bodily injury claims within marine liability. You will manage investigations, coverage assessments, and reserves while upholding RLI's Best Practices.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree plus 10+ years of claims experience, with a J.D. preferred. Travel to mediations and trials will be required as needed, and a competitive total rewards package is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree plus 10+ years handling claims in marine liability
• J.D. preferred
• Experience with Marine General Liability, Marine Liability, and P&I coverage
• Proactive investigation, risk transfer, claim handling, attorney management
• Strong writing and communication skills for insureds, claimants, underwriters, and management

Responsibilities

• Proactively handle liability claims involving bodily injury in a marine liability context, aiming for fair, expeditious payouts
• Assess coverage issues and issue coverage letters and documentation
• Complete timely investigations and post appropriate reserves
• Pursue risk-transfer opportunities including indemnity and additional insured issues
• Handle claims in accordance with RLI's Best Practices
• Resolve claims in a timely manner to an effective outcome
• Travel to mediations, settlement conferences, and/or trials as warranted
