Job summary

Serco is seeking a Senior Marine Engineer to lead design efforts for ships and floating structures, supporting US Navy and commercial programs. The role involves reviewing propulsion, auxiliary, and fluid systems and coordinating across naval architecture and structures.

The candidate will develop design specifications, validate requirements, and present technical work to clients. Travel up to 10% and security clearance are expected.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in Marine Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive Marine Engineering experience.
• Knowledge of applying engineering science to design and production of marine craft.
• Experience with government contracting environments and technical services.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for diverse stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% and obtain/maintain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform design or review of auxiliary, fluid, mechanical, engine and propulsion systems.
• Lead integration across disciplines to define ship characteristics and features.
• Develop specifications and support technical reports and presentations.
• Lead concept studies for pumping, fuel, seawater, and other fluids.
• Review machinery layouts and assist with maintenance access analyses.
• Provide onsite engineering support during test and construction activities.
