Job summary

Serco Inc. in Arlington, VA is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead design of marine electrical systems for naval programs, including power distribution, propulsion electricals, automation, and control systems.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, review drawings and specs, mentor junior engineers, and interface with customers and vendors. DoD security clearance and US citizenship required. Travel up to 10% and commitment to safety and quality are expected.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• DoD Secret security clearance is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or marine engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of marine electrical systems design experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and specification of marine electrical systems from concept through construction, including power generation and distribution, switchboards, transformers, UPS, propulsion electricals, automation, and monitoring.
• Produce and review electrical design documentation (SLDs, schematics, load analyses, cable schedules, equipment specs, technical requisitions).
• Provide project cost and schedule estimates and ensure compliance with marine standards (IEC, IEEE, DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s Register).
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and sea trials; mentor junior engineers; collaborate with mechanical, naval architecture, and software teams.
• Interface with clients, shipyards, vendors, and classification societies; identify and mitigate technical risks; travel for shipchecks/design reviews.
