Job summary

Serco is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in the Maritime Engineering Operation to lead marine electrical system design, from concept to construction, for Navy and commercial customers. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and ensure compliance with industry standards while supporting FAT, SAT, and sea trials.

The role requires a DoD Secret clearance, US citizenship, a relevant engineering degree, and 10+ years in marine electrical design, with strong MATLAB/Simulink and PLC

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or marine engineering.
• 10+ years designing marine electrical systems.
• Ability to obtain/maintain DoD Secret clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s Register.
• Experience with electrical drawings, distribution analysis, and control systems.
• Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink and PLC programming.
• Strong communication and supervision skills.
• Willingness to travel ~10%.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and specification of marine electrical systems from concept to construction.
• Produce and review single-line diagrams, schematics, load analyses, and cable schedules.
• Provide project cost and schedule estimates.
• Ensure compliance with marine standards and class rules.
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and sea trials.
• Mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate with mechanical, naval architecture, and software teams.
• Interface with clients, shipyards, vendors, and classification societies.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks.
• Travel for shipchecks and design reviews.
• Prioritize health, safety, and environmental considerations.
• Adhere to QA and security procedures.
