Markel is seeking a claims professional to resolve personal lines marine bodily injury claims of varying complexity, from coverage inquiry to liability assessment and settlement. You will lead investigations, work with vendors, and provide mentorship while traveling to mediations and trials as needed.

The role emphasizes timely resolutions, cost control, and clear communication with stakeholders, with a focus on training others and handling an active caseload.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of claims or relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of bodily injury claims, including litigation.
• Proven track record in Customer Service/Experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Experience in determining contractual obligations, coverage analysis, liability analysis, and investigations.
• Ability to direct and manage outside vendors, including surveyors and outside counsel.
• Ability to manage complex injury exposures, set loss and expense reserves and evaluate settlement values.
• Ability to proactively self-manage an active caseload.

Responsabilités

• Typically handles moderate to complex exposure personal lines marine bodily injury claims.
• Confirms coverage of claims by reviewing policies and documents submitted in support of claims.
• Directs and monitors assignments to experts and outside counsel, ensures effective vendor and litigation management.
• Analyzes coverage and communicates coverage positions. Prepares coverage position letters.
• Utilizes investigation and settlement techniques to achieve cost effective and timely closure.
• Conducts, coordinates, and directs investigation into loss facts and extent of damages.
• Provides timely service throughout the life cycle of the claim and meets SLAs.
• Evaluates information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine insured's exposure.
• Sets reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations; negotiates and settles as needed.
