Job summary

Markel Group is seeking a skilled Personal Lines Marine Bodily Injury Claims Specialist to manage complex claims from initial inquiry through liability assessment and settlement. You will coordinate with experts and outside counsel, review coverage, and ensure timely, cost-effective resolutions while pursuing subrogation opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of claims or relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of bodily injury claims, including litigation.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• College degree and/or professional designation preferred.
• Knowledge of marine insurance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handle moderate to complex exposure personal lines marine bodily injury claims.
• Review policies to confirm coverage.
• Direct and monitor assignments to experts and outside counsel.
• Analyze coverage and communicate positions; prepare letters.
• Investigate loss facts and damages and set reserves within authority.
• Provide timely service and meet SLAs throughout the claim life cycle.
• Travel to mediations, trials, and conferences as required.
• Mentor colleagues and deliver technical training.
