Job summary

Airbus Commercial Aircraft in Mobile, AL seeks an Airframe Design Engineer to lead primary/secondary structure solutions, interfacing with global design offices and manufacturing. The role focuses on rapid, safe, and compliant design resolutions to keep production moving and airworthiness intact.

The candidate will work on metallic and composite structures, support FAL activities, and travel up to 10% as needed to support customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering or 10 years related experience.
• 6+ years in airframe structure design with troubleshooting experience.
• Advanced knowledge of both metallic and composite airframe structures.
• Knowledge of configuration management rules and processes.
• Proven problem-solving track record and self-direction.
• Willing to travel up to 10% domestically/overseas.

Responsibilities

• Create/approve/authorize technical solutions, including repairs and reworks.
• Interface between design office and manufacturing on the shop floor.
• Analyze system/structure malfunctions and drive troubleshooting.
• Represent design offices, subcontractors, and risk-sharing partners.
• Support FAL US from delivery of aircraft sections through ferry flight.
• Develop/validate corrective actions and design modifications.
• Identify and document defects; prepare progress reports.
• Develop innovative engineering techniques.
