Job summary

Amgen seeks a Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer to lead automation efforts for the new drug substance facility. You will guide PLC programming across Allen Bradley and Siemens, integrate with Emerson DeltaV, and support SCADA/HMI development.

You will collaborate with SMEs to translate process needs into digital solutions, support validation per 21 CFR Part 11, and drive continuous improvement in a 24x7 operations environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED with 10 years of Engineering experience or equivalent.
• Associate’s Degree with 8 years of Engineering experience or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s Degree with 4 years of Engineering experience or equivalent.
• Master’s Degree with 2 years of Engineering experience or equivalent.
• Doctorate Degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide automation technical leadership for building and maintaining automation systems and platforms supporting GMP Drug Substance Plant Operations.
• Collaborate with the capital project team to deliver robust automation systems for plant utilities and standalone systems.
• Develop and maintain PLC-based automation solutions (Allen Bradley, Siemens) and DeltaV integration.
• Develop and maintain SCADA and HMI interfaces and equipment PLCs.
• Lead standalone system implementation, control panel layout, and HMI design.
• Interpret SME requirements to translate into digital automated solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives for standalone systems.
• Document solutions clearly and support computerized systems validation with QA in a GxP environment.
