Job summary

Blue Origin in Huntsville, AL is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer III to lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure stringent quality control across production, and optimize supply chain logistics for Production/Operations.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance production timelines using advanced technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited university.
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience for Level 3; 8+ years for Sr Manufacturing Engineer.
• Working knowledge of GD&T and engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing.
• Ability to create English work instructions for technicians and inspectors.
• Experience developing processes compliant with AS9100 quality systems.
• Willingness to work extended hours when required.
• Strong attention to detail and results-driven mindset.
• Passion for rockets and space missions.

Responsibilities

• Define, develop, implement, optimize and own rocket engine assembly, integration, and test processes.
• Develop manufacturing work instructions covering receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment.
• Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT).
• Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building engines.
• Design, procure, install, and qualify custom manufacturing equipment/fixtures.
• Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (machining, welding, additive manufacturing, etc.).
• Support root cause analysis of non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality standards.
• Participate in FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines.
• Apply emerging AI technologies alongside traditional engineering tools to optimize processes.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply)
