Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems Manufacturing seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to join the Colorado team, supporting a stand-alone facility for DoD programs. You will oversee production processes, coordinate with Planning, Quality, and Operations, and implement tooling and mBOMs to ensure efficiency and quality.

This role requires weekend shifts and a Secret Clearance. The position focuses on refining manufacturing processes, using MES (Solumina), and ensuring ISO9001/AS9100 compliance while collaborating

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Industrial and Systems Engineering with 6+ years of related experience.
• Collaborative engineering environment with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience with CNC milling and Lathe machining.
• Six years of experience in Manufacturing, Assembly & Integration with machining or mechanical components.
• Experience with MRP and ERP/PLM/MES systems.
• Proficient understanding of GD&T.
• Experience with ISO9001/AS9100 processes.
• Experience with contactless structured blue light scanning.
• Intermediate proficiency with SolidWorks and Microsoft Office.
• Candidate must be a resident of the Colorado Springs area or willing to relocate; US Citizen with Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Implement procedures and techniques to transform raw materials into finished products efficiently.
• Use MES software (Solumina) to implement, track, monitor, and control manufacturing processes for quality and efficiency.
• Generate and maintain Manufacturing Bills of Materials (mBOMs) and routings in Solumina.
• Create accurate run times and schedules within the MES environment.
• Identify and execute continuous improvement projects and reduce production risks.
• Plan and maintain production flow through the MRP system and manage change controls.
• Coordinate production workflow for multiple projects; organize resources including materials, equipment, and personnel to meet goals.
• Manage Configuration and Data Management processes and controls for changes.
• Define manufacturing processes and production flow for assembly, integration, and test of products.
• Oversee and optimize production processes from raw materials to finished goods.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Operations Leads, and Inventory Control.
• Expedite jobs and address material shortages as needed.
• Maintain ISO9001/AS9100 processes within the department.
