Job summary

Karman Space & Defense in Huntington Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to assure producibility, quality, and robust processes across the product lifecycle. You will lead DFMA efforts, guide process qualification, and support continuous improvement while aligning manufacturing with design and ERP integration (Epicor).

You will mentor junior engineers, oversee capacity planning and scheduling, and serve as a subject matter expert on DFMA, SPC, and manufacturing best practices

Qualifications

• BS in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on fabrication and assembly experience.
• Ability to read and generate blueprints, drawings, and technical diagrams.
• Familiarity with material properties, in‑process verification, and validation methods.
• GD&T proficiency and DoD security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Lead DFMA activities as part of the design team.
• Apply manufacturing engineering principles to ensure producibility and robustness.
• Mentor junior manufacturing engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Serve as SME on DFMA and statistical process controls.
• Oversee material and resource planning to maintain production schedules.
• Plan workflows, resources, and capacity aligned with forecasts.
• Resolve complex issues to support design, development, and production continuity.
• Oversee process qualification and support product qualification activities.
• Perform duties aligned with Manufacturing Engineer I–III as needed.
