Job summary

Blue Origin in Space Coast, FL is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to serve as the primary DFM partner for machined parts, translating models, drawings, and configurations into robust machining plans and shop-floor documentation.

You will develop CNC process plans, define machining strategies, and collaborate with Design Engineering to ensure machinability, inspection, and clear acceptance criteria, guiding first-article through sustained builds and leading root-cause investigations when issues

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years CNC process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or similar focus.
• Experience providing DFM guidance for machined parts and cost/cycle-time trade studies.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Experience developing shop-floor work instructions and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead DFM feedback for machined parts to reduce cycle time and cost.
• Partner with Design Engineering to influence part architecture for machinability and acceptance criteria.
• Develop CNC machining process plans for complex hardware (milling/turning/multi-axis/EDM).
• Translate models and drawings into clear manufacturing work instructions and tool lists.
• Define machining strategy with CAM programmers to optimize toolpaths and cycle time.
• Perform drawing reviews and provide manufacturing approval input.
• Support repair/rework planning and disposition.
• Lead machining-related nonconformance investigations and corrective actions.
• Evaluate/select machining equipment and workholding for long-term throughput.
• Support automation and modernization efforts in probing and adaptive machining.
