Job summary

Inalfa Roof Systems Group B.V. seeks a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support and innovate bonding processes for sunroofs, especially top slider designs. You will work with the Advance Process team on new programs and processes.

You will lead process verification, drive equipment and material improvements, and direct lab activities while collaborating with product engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and ongoing quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, automotive bonding/adhesive processes a plus.
• 5+ years in manufacturing with strong documentation and MS Office skills.
• Experience with bonding chemistry and process control is preferred.

Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer Department: Product & Manufacturing Engineering Reports To: Engineering Manager FLSA status: Exempt

SUMMARY

Inalfa has some level of glass bonding in all of its manufacturing facilities. This is a core technology to the manufacture of sunroofs (especially in top slider designs) and key to long term profitability. This position primarily addresses the need to support and innovate the bonding processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Other duties may be assigned.
• Monitor and audit existing Inalfa bonding operations at regular intervals
• Respond to and drive resolution of plant bonding issues
• Maintain awareness of bonding technology state-of-the-art
• Prescribe process verification testing in quality control plans
• Specify and execute process and equipment technology improvement
• Resident expert on chemistry of the bonding process including priming, sealants, glass/ceramics, ambient conditions and manufacturing methods
• Direct lab activities for process issues
• Audit supplier bonding operations
• Direct product engineering for design feasibility and optimization
• The successful candidate approaches bonding operations creatively, methodically and logically; leading team solutions with patient, thorough communication
• Work directly as part of the Advance Process team on new programs and processes

PRIMARY SKILLS (Elective)

• Generalist automotive component/sub assembly manufacturing floor experience
• Develop written control plans and work instructions
• Compose and update failure modes and effects analysis documentation
• Support engineering change activities
• Strong troubleshooting skills for electro-mechanical equipment
• Experienced in DFA, process design, build and launch, AQP, troubleshooting, continuous improvement
• Lead engineering resources and unionized skilled trades to troubleshoot and repair equipment
• Basic industrial engineering knowledge
• Knowledge of or experience with: MSDS maintenance, VA/VE, Analytical Problem Solving, ISO 14000 environmental controls, lean manufacturing concepts
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
• Direct programming of material handling robots
• Software skills – Autocad, ABB Softexec IATF 16949

Bachelors degree in engineering; Must have experience with: Automotive glass bonding and adhesive processes Chemistry of urethane based adhesive systems Automated metering, transport and deposition of adhesives or sealants 5+ years experience in manufacturing plant Strong record keeping and documentation skills. Software skills – MS office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint), MS Visual, MS Project

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
