Job summary

Inalfa Roof Systems Group B.V. is seeking an Industrial Engineer to drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives within Product & Manufacturing Engineering.

You will plan, organize, and control tasks to meet lean objectives and develop plans for packaging, facility development, and labor studies. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, at least five years in tier-one automotive lean manufacturing, and fluency in English.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing practices.
• Knowledge in various assembly processes and how material flows in and out of the process.
• Knowledge of machine design, sensors, pneumatics, electrical, and machine controls.
• Ability to conduct time studies on assembly processes and interpret results for decisions.
• Knowledge in packaging containers and material.
• Knowledge in quantifying financial information.
• Knowledge in ergonomics and human movement as they relate to processes.
• Understanding of laws and safety regulations and how they affect operators and equipment.
• Understanding of logistics, warehouse flow, and transportation of material (Domestic and International).
• Knowledge of facility designs and mechanical/electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify cost Savings through labor or process improvements.
• Maintain up-to-date drawings for manufacturing facilities.

• Study new manufacturing facilities and provide required information.
• Develop container movement methodology within dock, warehouse, and manufacturing plant.
• Approve packaging designs adhering to ergonomic guidelines and line presentation.
• Ensure design and development activities optimize manufacturability (DFM/DFA) and cross-functional feasibility.
• Develop equipment plan considering value-added labor, automation, ergonomics, balance, inventory levels.

SUMMARY

Drive the organization towards the goal of technical excellence in the areas of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement. Plans, organizes and controls all tasks associated with the accomplishment of lean manufacturing objectives. Develop plans in the areas of packaging, facility development, and labor studies. Provide technical guidance and ensure state-of-the-art techniques and manufacturing processes are utilized in all production activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and direct activities concerned with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
• Conduct the necessary time studies to ensure that labor standards remain accurate and up to date.
• Develop work elements and establish takt times for all processes/work elements in the manufacturing process.
• Continuously identify areas where cost savings can be achieved through labor reduction or process improvements.
• Maintain up to date drawings for manufacturing facilities.
• Plan and develop facility layouts for future business and/or expansion.
• Conduct the necessary studies and provide the required information on new manufacturing facilities.
• Develop the proper methodology for container movement within the dock area, warehouse, and within the manufacturing plant.
• Approves packaging designs that adhere to ergonomic guidelines and ensures proper line presentation.
• Ensures all process design and development activities optimize manufacturability through DFM/DFA analysis, and cross-functional team feasibility studies.
• Development of equipment plan by considering value added labor content, appropriate automation level, ergonomics and human factors, operator and line balance, storage and buffer inventory levels.
• Support manufacturing by effectively addressing all process related issues.
• Training of production associates and quality engineers for new/ changed processes and process controls.

• Understanding of logistics, warehouse flow, and transportation of material. (Domestic and International)
• Knowledge of various facility designs along with all the mechanical and electrical systems within a facility.
• CAD skills and knowledge.
• Ability to work as a cross-functional team member.
• Ability to work with customers on various proposals.
• Must be fluent in English

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field. Additional experience related to sunroof technology and/or tier one lean manufacturing development could replace some of the advanced educational requirements.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of five years in tier one automotive overseeing lean manufacturing or industrial engineering activities. Proven track record developing effective solutions.

COMMUNICATION

Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Must be able to intelligently present information to our supply base, current and prospective customers.
