Job summary

Crux is financing the future of energy and is building a scalable tax/preferred equity platform for renewable energy and energy transition projects. The Senior Manager will lead screening, modeling, and transaction execution, guiding Associates and cross-functional teams across tax equity, preferred equity, and advisory services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 4+ years of experience in renewable energy, structured finance, infrastructure investing, investment banking, or related field with direct tax equity and/or preferred equity structuring and modeling experience.
• Advanced Excel skills with ability to build complex partnership models; VBA or Python a plus.
• Strong understanding of tax equity and preferred equity structures, including allocations, capital accounts, and flip mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and audit complex financial models for tax/hybrid and preferred equity transactions, focusing on partnership flip, T-flip, and hybrid structures.
• Lead the screening and underwriting of new opportunities, including initial reviews and pre-pricing screens, and develop pricing and structuring recommendations.
• Prepare investment materials for Investment Committee, including transaction economics, sensitivities, and risk analyses.
• Collaborate with senior Structuring team members on transaction structuring, execution, and negotiations, driving transactions from intake to closing.
• Analyze sponsor financials, project contracts, and diligence materials to identify risks and value drivers.
• Coordinate diligence across commercial, technical, legal, tax, and insurance workstreams and review closing documents.
• Leverage technology and AI-enabled tools to increase accuracy and efficiency in modeling and reporting.
• Contribute to process improvements and template standardization across the Structuring team.
• Engage directly with developers, investors, and advisors on active transactions and manage counterparty relationships.
• Review and develop Associates on the Structuring team.
