Job summary

Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services seeks a Manager-III (Residential Plan Review) to lead the Residential Construction & Fire Code Compliance Division. The role ensures proper application of residential building, structural, electrical, mechanical, and energy conservation codes for new construction and alterations.

You will manage a high-volume portfolio, oversee staff of seven, and coordinate with external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in residential construction or related field.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical expert for the County’s residential plan review operations; approve design alternatives and ensure conformance to codes.
• Manage and supervise the Residential Plan Review staff and ensure timely review of plans for single- and multi-family buildings, ADUs, and solar infrastructure.
• Oversee code adoption, review pending local/state legislation, and liaison with builders, developers, architects, engineers, and officials.
