Job summary

Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services (DPS) seeks a Manager-III, Grade M3 in the Residential Plan Review Section to lead the residential construction plan review team and ensure public safety through code application.

The role oversees complex reviews for single- and multi-family projects, coordinates with engineers, builders, and officials, and provides guidance to staff while delivering strong customer service.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience as a construction or design professional in the field of residential construction in a local government or firm, of which two (2) years with supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Residential Plan Review Section within the Residential Construction & Fire Code Compliance Division; review, interpret, and approve residential construction plans.
• Serve as technical expert for the County’s residential plan review operations; approve structural design alternatives and ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
• Oversee the evaluation of a diverse portfolio of residential construction documents including single- and two-family homes, townhomes, and solar infrastructure.
• Coordinate activities with other sections, County departments, and external stakeholders; provide guidance and recommendations to support programs.
